Live Wedding Music. What To Choose, How To Choose By Jeff Williams

Monday, July 27th, 2009

After many years of performing in excess of seventy weddings a year I feel quietly confident in advising couples on the right live wedding music for their celebration. A live wedding band can come in all shapes, sizes and styles and should reflect something of the couple’s personality and the type of day they wish themselves and their guests to experience. They can be used at various times of the day to change the tone or feeling of that particular section of the proceedings. Some wedding bands can provide live wedding music for all parts of the day. Jazz not Jazz has such bands on their roster of musicians and they are much in demand.

The best of signature metal guitars

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

For some guitarists, the signature guitar can either give them the tone of their hero, or just be another way to get more money out of them. So here we have picked three signature metal beasts that need some attention.

The Dimebag range from Dean Guitars. While most guitarists have one signature guitar -Pantera and Damageplan's guitarist has had thirty three done in his honour. After his death in 2004 Dean decided not to let the guitarists name go into obsuricty and bought out a large range of Dimebag Darrell guitars. The pickups in the guitar depends on the age -newer ones feature the 'Dimebucker', instead of EMGs. If your after a Dean just choose with pickups you like better and then go for which guitar looks good to you. If Dimebag was your hero, this is the range to look at prices range from the 'dimeblade' at £219 to the 'rebel razorback' at £3500 -so choose wisely.

A New Pilgrimage: Music in Israel

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

It may be surprising to some that some of the best musical artists in the world have performed in Israel, considering the fact that this tiny country usually makes the news due to a bombing or political problem. Just recently, the mega-star band Depeche Mode performed an action packed concert to a sold out audience of 40,000 people. Every summer, some of the best jazz and blues performers from all around the world play at the Red Sea International Jazz Festival in Eilat. The Zephirelli production of Carmen and La Boheme were recently performed in the Israeli Opera House with an international cast of the greatest opera singers available. In addition to the international talent performing in Israel on a regular basis, some of the best classical musicians in the world are, in fact, Israeli. Itzhak Pearlman, Daniel Barenboim, and Gil Shaham are Israeli born and raised.
