Soothing and sensual, steeped in tropical atmosphere, bossa nova (Portuguese for "new trend") is a Brazilian musical style which evolved from another South American musical tradition, the samba.
The beginning of the bossa nova can be linked to Elizete Cardoso's 1958 recording of lyricist Vinícius de Moraes and multi-talented composer Antonio Carlos Jobim's “Chega de Saudade.” Although Elizete Cardoso's rendering went unnoticed, João Gilberto's subsequent record became a hit, creating the bossa nova craze. An English-language translation of the song has been recorded by both jazz and rock artists under the title “No More Blues,” though it can also be translated as “enough longing.” “Chega” stands for “no more,” and “saudade” means an acute, heartfelt desire.

Heavy metal has a huge line of guitar players who dominated the stage and played like the demons the vocalists sung about. Here's three players who did just that, but are now sadly no longer with us.
- Randy Rhoads. Formely of LA rock band Quiet riot, Randy Rhoads was best know as Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist when the singer went solo from Black Sabbath. Rhoads helped write such classic Ozzy songs as 'Crazy train' and 'Dee'. Randy's classical influence and background can be seen on the first two solo Ozzy albums which he played on. 1979's 'Blizzard of Oz' album and 1981's 'diary of a madmen'. It is believed that Rhoades would've gone on to leave the band to study classical guitar at UCLA, and he would seek out classical guitar tutors on tour with Ozzy to keep up his knowledge and playing skill. The specialist guitars that Jackson had made for him are extremely popular with metal guitar players. Rhoads died tragically in a plane crash in 1982, and his since been an inspiration for thousands of guitarists since.
- Chuck Schulidner. 'Death's main axeman, vocalist and head songwriter. Hailed as the father of the death metal subgenre, a term he himself wasnt comfortable with, Chuck was a huge influence on many guitar players and extreme metal. 'Scream bloody gore', the first album from Death, was the template for the genre known as death metal, but with each album the style and directions changed. Death released four more albums before Schuldiner folded the band in 1999 to play guitar in a new band 'control denied', which released the one album 'the fragile art of exsistance'. Schuldiner lost his battle with cancer in 2001, the metal community had raised money on many occassions to pay for his operations.
- Darrell Lance Abbott -'Dimebag'. The guitar player of Pantera and Damageplan, who also played guitar for the 'rebel meets rebel' project. Pantera was formed in 1981 as a glam metal band, but the bands first album 'Cowboys from hell' saw them take a much more heavier groove laden approach with the music. Thier next album 1992's 'Vulgar display of power' was the band breakthrough album, featuring the songs 'this love','walk', and 'a new level'. The next album 'Far beyond driven' reached the top of the US charts at a time when metal wasnt considered 'popular'. Pantera brought out 2 more albums before a breakdown in communication split the band into two camps, never reconsiling before the guitarists death. Dimebag was tragically shot while performing onstage with Damageplan in December 2004, which saw the metal community grieve as a collective once again.

So you'veplayed guitar hero enough times to decided that you yourself want to do the real thing. So what do you need to know before buying your first guitar? Here's some tips to give the beginners an idea of what they need to look for in a guitar.
- What guitar do you want? The myth used to be that you had to buy an acoustic before you could progress to electric. Thats not true. Go get the guitar the guitar thats suited to the music that you want to play. You'll get more out of practising on your chosen type of guitar. Its the same if you give someone whose interested in acoustic playing an electric guitar- not a good idea. while you are still playing a guitar, which is a good, by playing on the instrument you want your posture and hand positioning will be alot better.
- What guitar is the right one for you? So you've decided you want an electric, but what suits you and the style you want to play? There is not much point in buying a Dean Razorback guitar, thats built for playing metal if your into playing jazz. The tone of a guitar will vary from guitar brands depening on the pick ups and the wood used to make them. While single coil pickups will give you a 'brighter' tone, humbuckers will give off a more bassier tone. Starting off on one of the cheaper models, such as a Squier or a Yamaha brand guitar which are good solid beginners guitars are good.
- Try out a few guitars before you buy one. You'll get a far better idea of if the guitar is right for you by playing it a few times first. While going into a guitar shop in front of other players can be daunting, they'll know that we are all beginners at some point. If your buying the guitar as a suprise gift, know what kind of music they want to play and ask the shop for recommendations. The right guitar can encourage them, while the wrong one can do the exact opposite.

Many parents want to encourage their children to learn to play a musical instrument, to encourage their musical development.
A music keyboard is often the first instrument. These stimulate interest in music even in very young children and they are reasonably priced. Ask your school music teacher for advice, because some of the very low cost keyboards are very limited. The higher priced keyboards play notes softer if they are hit less hard, more like a piano.

karaoke machines
In Japan, karaoke serves many roles. It allows the suppressed individual to be a star and expressing him or herself, departing from traditionally-rooted group values, if only for a rare moment. It lets business professionals loosen their ties, let down their hair and unwind after grueling hours in the workplace. It is also a great way for intergenerational communication, as families participate in an enjoyable activity beloved by all. Karaoke machines have been credited with improving national literacy rates too, as the words appear on the screen.
